Horizon, in cooperation with Anija Municipality, carries out alternate education initiatives in Anija region

Horizon, in cooperation with Anija Municipality, has successfully carried out two alternate education initiatives for Anija region schools and kindergartens.

Verge Methodology for prevention of aggressive behaviour in children

The first initiative was educating schools’ and kindergartens’ staff on Verge methodology. The Verge method, which has been practiced in Norway for 30 years, helps identify and prevent aggressive behavior in children. The training focused on preventing both verbal and physical aggression through various techniques. This training shall help create a safe learning environment in Anija schools and kindergartens. The training was facilitated by Verge Eesti OÜ.

Development of educational staff towards supporting children with special needs

The second initiative was educating the schools’ and kindergartens’ staff on how to support children with special needs. There are about 100 children with special needs in Anija region who require support. This training will help create a supportive learning environment for these children in the region’s kindergartens and schools. One training session especially focused on how to help a child with special needs transition from kindergarten environment to school environment. The trainings in this initiative were facilitated by MTÜ Latova Nõustamis- ja Koolituskeskus.
