Horizon awarded Health Maker of the Year 2024

Horizon has been awarded the title “Health Maker of the Year 2024” by Harju County Entrepreneurship and Development Center (HEAK) . The award is given to an organization that contributes to mental/physical health and well being of the Harjumaa community and region in Estonia.

The following is the English language translation of article written by HEAK about Horizon receiving the award.

Health Maker of the Year 2024: Horizon Pulp & Paper Ltd. (Anija region of Harjumaa)

It is a caring, collaborative company that values education and nurtures its community. Horizon is the largest employer in the municipality and cares about the well-being of its people and the municipality. They turned to the municipality with a desire to contribute to the development of educational institutions, which grew into a multifaceted cooperation project:

  • With Horizon’s support, Verge methodology trainings were held for several employees of the municipality’s schools and subdivisions. The training helped to raise the awareness of employees, self-confidence and job satisfaction.
  • In kindergartens and schools, the training “Noticing and supporting children with special needs” was held, during which the transition of a child from kindergarten to school was discussed as a networking and workshop exercise.
  • Communication training “Trusting relations in an educational institution”, the purpose of which was to provide tools for the prevention and resolution of conflicts in order to ensure safe communication in an educational institution.

  • In the current academic year, Aegviidu School started the two-year program “Kindergarten and School That Creates Well-being”, which aims to positively influence the environment of the whole school and kindergarten.
  • For the third year, supervision meetings of beginning teachers will be held for teachers of Anija, Jõelähtme, Kose, Kuusalu, Raasiku and Tapa parishes and the city of Maardu.

The collaboration will continue next year. It is planned to provide training on mental health support directly to students. The employees of Anija municipality are extremely grateful for the contribution of the company and highly value cooperation with the company.

The Health Maker of the Year is a recognition issued by the Association of Municipalities of Harju County (HOL) and the Harju County Health Council. The purpose of this recognition is to value and express gratitude to a natural and/or legal person who, through his or her professional or social activities, has made an outstanding contribution to the local population of Harju County in:

  • improving / supporting mental health
  • improving /supporting physical health
  • health-related prevention
  • health-related well-being/organisation
  • valuing health
  • being a role model

The submitted candidates were evaluated by the Harju County Health Council.
